Or maybe I just need a huge bowl of homestyle chicken noodle soup. You know. With the thick noodles, huge chunks of veggies, and a thick broth. Some crackers on the side. Hot weather makes me crave soup and snow makes me want ice cream.

It's me.

So the room I'm renting is $500 a month + electricity, all other utilities included. A real steal, compared to everything else in the area. It's an interesting little setup; the guy divided his house in such a way that there's a private door that leads into a 3 bedroom area with a kitchenette. There's a door that leads into his portion of the house, I don't even think there's a door knob on our side. One bedroom is a master bedroom with a bathroom, but someone lives in that (when he moves out in a year, I'm snatching that up). The room is large.

The shitty thing is I have to do laundry at a laundromat, and no place to have people over. The air conditioning unit is tiny and is supposed to service the whole house; I have the feeling it won't be on all that much (sigh). There's also no oven, just a stove-top. The landlord is a bit harsh; no storing things in the garage, or even running games in the garage.

The location cannot be beat. It is a literal 2 minute walk (through back yards) from a grocery store, laundromat, Chinese place, etc. It's going to be troublesome in the winter with snow, but otherwise, perfect. Not only that, but there's a little bus that makes a routine loop around the area, and the stop is right outside my house; I can get to campus within 15 minutes. This will be a godsend given I have 8am classes.

The town is tiny. It's little more than a 2.5 mile road with everything relevant adjacent to it. Although, we didn't explore down the side roads. I think there is a little more, but not much. A real benefit to me is that everything is walkable, plus the little loop. The only chain places there are a single Quiznos, Subway, Starbucks, McDonalds, Burger King, and Dunkin Donuts; everything else is a small business. The fact that the town had neither a Waffle House nor Wal-Mart utterly shocked and appalled my mother. These two facts are just fine to me; I like supporting local places.

The one problem with that is if I want to buy something that isn't in the area (like say, clothing), I have to get on a bus and go to Poughkeepsie, about 30 minutes away. All of my doctors except the general practice doc and psychiatrist are in Poughkeepsie. Also, things are fairly expensive.

I'm really looking forward to moving, even though it looks like I'm going to have to invest some cash before I go (mattress, desk, etc etc). Eesh.

I also have a Underworks Tri-Top Binder in Small if anyone is interested. It doesn't fit me at all, so I need to get rid of it. I paid a little over $30 for it, so I'm looking to get a least $20 with shipping.

I volunteer at a museum that has an aquarium with, among other things, an octopus in it. I mostly work in the back with the researchers, but I make rounds around the aquarium once in a while.

( You know how some people get really upset when someone does something to aggravate a small kitten or a fluffy bunny? That's me when it comes to cephalopods. )

I've been wanting to make a savory cupcake (maybe this counts as a "cupfake" too!) for awhile now, and it struck me the other day that a cheddar bacon biscuit would be delectable with some creamy avocado on top. So I pondered and googled for a week to work out the details, and voila! These came out so, so yummy. You should DEFINITELY make these!!

I am trying to find a recipe for a 9x13 cake that incorporates Oreos as part of the ingredients. I don't want a round layer cake--I need to serve 25+ guys, so a round layer cake won't go too far with them. I have turned up only 1 recipe in Google. Help!!!

Look, I understand that the situation is frustrating, but:

1) I am not in charge of the website. It's new. I don't know what all is on there. It's not my fault if our NO RETURN policy is not stated on there. If you come into the store, I have to abide by the policies we have in place. That is my job, and that is all I am able and allowed to do.

2) When I calmly explain to you that all I can do is take down your information and have my boss deal with your situation, please don't bitch at me and demand that I call my boss now. Maybe if you were nicer and more understanding, I'd try to get a hold of her, but you're being rude, disregarding the fact that she has two very active young boys that need her attention. So, no, I am not going to bother her with your issue at this very moment.

3) In general? I could care less about your time issues. Our website does have contact information up. You could have emailed my boss directly, explaining the situation to her, instead of wasting your "precious time" dragging your girls down here, only to have them watch as you bitch out a powerless employee, attempting to guilt me into caving because you work "more than full-time," and you can't work around our hours, and somehow this is my problem that we close at 6.

4) If you work so damn much, you should know that I have no control over much of anything. I can sell you stuff, I can answer most questions, I can even give you my personal opinions on the brands we carry, but I cannot change our hours, I cannot disregard our store policy, and I can't tell you to shut up when I really really want to, because you're being very rude, and as much as my boss frustrates me, you have no right to demand that she prioritize her business over her children. That's why she has employees.
